This doesn’t feel like a typical “About Us” page. We do lift up and affirm the doctrine of The United Methodist Church. You can find out more about our beliefs here.
This might be more of a confessional, at least for me, the pastor. As pastor, I see a huge part of my role as helping the church be the Church, the Church I think Jesus would truly want to see. I grew up in church, but I’m not sure how often I’ve seen the Church. Yes, I believe I’ve seen glimpses along the way. Yes, I acknowledge that my sin, my faults, can blind me to it at times. However, I still feel and believe that most of us haven’t truly seen the Church. I’m sorry for that. I’m especially sorry for those of you who have been hurt by the church.
Here at Barnitz and Mt. Zion, we are trying to love God and those around us, following Jesus. We are still in process and maybe we always will be, but we’d love for you to know God’s love for you and for you to connect to the real and personal relationship He desires to have with you.
