For God to Love You More

Do you know? Do you know what you can do so that God will love you more? Go ahead, I will wait a minute for you to make your list.

Maybe it is yelling less at your kids. Maybe it is making sure your kids behave a little better in church. Oh, wait, I know. It is making sure you are at church more, attending more and serving more. Maybe it is that sin, you know that sin, the one you wish did not haunt you. If only you would be able to stop sinning in that way, then you would be sure that God loves you more.

Maybe you need to read your Bible more. Instead of every now and then, maybe you need to read it a couple of times a day. Maybe you need to increase your giving. Have you taken the time to see where your money goes?

How about your time? Where does your time go? Do you spend enough time with God? Maybe if you spend more time with God, then He will love you more.

Are you coming up with anything? Something?

Has the above helped you at all? No? Yes? What can you do so that God will love you more? Again, I will wait a minute. Write it down. You do not want to forget it.

Are you ready for the answer? Believe it or not, even with all of the above questions, the answer is the same for everyone. No, this does not mean that we are all guilty of the same sin.

What can you do so God will love you more?

NOTHING

Now, I do not mean you have messed up so much already and God does not love you. It is quite the opposite. God loves you. He loves you more than you know. God loves you, and you do not need to earn it. You cannot change anything in your life for God to love you more, and you cannot change anything in your life for God to love you less.

God loves you.

God loves you.

God loves you.

There is nothing you can do or not do to change that fact. God loves you. Yes, He loves you. Yes, He knows everything you have done, and He knows everything you have not done.

And yes, He loves you.

6 While we were still weak, at the right moment, Christ died for ungodly people. 7 It isn’t often that someone will die for a righteous person, though maybe someone might dare to die for a good person. 8 But God shows his love for us, because while we were still sinners Christ died for us. 9 So, now that we have been made righteous by his blood, we can be even more certain that we will be saved from God’s wrath through him. 10 If we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son while we were still enemies, now that we have been reconciled, how much more certain is it that we will be saved by his life? (Romans 5:6-10)

God loves you.

Blessings,

Pastor Matt
