Have you ever gone on a trip and every road you went on seemed stuck with traffic? Every alternate route you tried seemed to be the same. You were not getting anywhere. Then, through persistence, you arrive and find yourself saying, “I didn’t think I was going to make it.”
You finally got THERE.
When you have a destination to drive to you can put the address in your phone and the phone starts talking to you, telling you how to go from “here” to “there”. Yes, it can be that simple. Too bad the rest of life does not always seem to work that way.
I have come to really appreciate the information and resources available through Exponential. It is an organization committed to helping churches multiply….exponentially!
Last week they had their conference in Orlando. Nope, I did not get to Florida, but I was able to watch some of it online. Here are a couple of thoughts I pulled from this conference that I wanted to share.
Derwin Gray, pastor of Transformation Church, called us to “Dream big! What seems impossible to us is Him possible.”
Dream big!
Erwin McManu, pastor of Masoic, reminded us that God will help you live out the dream that is causing your soul to ache.
What is that passion in your soul? You know, the one that causes you to dream big!
David Dummitt, pastor of 2/42 Community Church, reminded us to think THERE instead of HERE.
How do we get there? How do we see the God given passions in our life lived out? Please do not miss the power of this in its simplicity. Keep asking questions. (Some of these questions come from Andy Stanley, pastor of North Point Community Church.)
You want to be in another position at your job. Ask yourself, “What would that person do?”
You want to be a better parent. Ask yourself, “What would a great parent do?”
You want to be a better leader. Ask yourself, “What would a great leader do?”
You want to see your church reach more people. Ask yourself, “What would a church reaching more people do?”
You want to see your church make more of an impact in your community. Ask yourself, “What would a church transforming their community do?”
These are questions you are asking when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. You ask these questions when you are deciding how to spend your time and how to spend your money. You ask these questions when you are deciding what to do next or what not to do next.
Then, do it! Live it out!
